IBEW Local 48 Members help renovate Pearson Air Museum

PORTLAND, Ore.-- E C Company, a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) working in conjunction with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 48 will be on hand to perform a safety assessment of the Beaverton Elks Lodge, the disaster headquarters for the TOPOFF4 disaster simulation taking place October 14 through October 20. The acronym is short for the Department of Homeland Security's Top Officials National Exercise Series.

EC Company will be donating manpower to assess the electrical capability of the Elks Lodge. In event of the simulated dirty bomb terrorist attacks scheduled to happen starting Oct. 14, the facility will become one of the communication headquarters for the over 50 local, state and federal agencies in the five counties involved.

Local 48 electricians will perform a safety assessment to ensure the facility can handle the hundreds of computers, satellites and other safety technologies that would be needed to support relief efforts in the event of an actual emergency. Emergency disaster agencies are extremely dependent on many different types of technology for communications that potentially require significant amounts of power.
