Local electricians donate services for young war hero's family

March 17, 2008

Last weekend 23 area electricians donated their Saturday morning to help those in need.

Local volunteers, including IBEW Local 48 electricians, donated materials and time to help build a home for a war hero's struggling family.

In 2006, 23-year-old Cpl. Jeremiah Johnson was killed in Baghdad the day after Christmas. He is survived by his wife Gale, and two children Rya and Isaiah who currently reside in Vancouver.

The goal is to turn over the new home, mortgage-free to the young family. NECA and IBEW Local 48 electricians were honored to contribute to these efforts. The project dubbed "Jeremiah's House" is managed by Steve Staudinger of New Tradition Homes.

Many IBEW Local 48 electricians have proudly served in the military. IBEW 48 electricians pride themselves on their commitment to excellence on and off the job site.

IBEW Local 48 electritians volunteered time on Saturday, March 15 to wire the mortgage-free home for the late Cpl. Jeremiah Johnson's young family.
