Max Landon Receives NECA’s McGraw Award

September 28, 2009

(Portland, OR) The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) has bestowed its 2009 James H. McGraw Award to Max N. Landon, owner of McCoy Electric in Portland, Oregon. The award is given to a person recognized for contributing some new or useful idea to the electrical contracting industry or for performing an extraordinary level of service to the industry. During the past four decades, Landon has worked tirelessly to improve the electrical industry — locally, regionally, nationally and globally. He was recently presented the honor at NECA's National Convention held in Seattle, Washington.

Landon has served in every leadership position in NECA’s Oregon-Columbia Chapter and on a number of committees where he performed a vital role with respect to labor negotiations, legislative affairs, and pension-trust oversight. He also served with distinction on several NECA national committees, including Government Affairs; the Codes & Standards Committee, which he chaired; and the Council on Industrial Relations, the industry’s unique arbitration body which he co-chaired.

As a 20-year trustee of the Edison Pension Plan, he spearheaded an arduous asset allocation study that has contributed dramatically to the plan’s overall success, even in these tough times.

In his latest venture, Landon is applying his vast experience as a volunteer in Peru with Bridges International non-profit. His hands on involvement included the repair and installation of electrical systems in rural medical facilities and the construction of water purification systems.
